One of the oldest theaters is located in the heart of Yerevan. The theater was founded in 1935 and is named after the great Armenian writer Hovhannes Tumanyan. Today children’s plays, as well as concerts and modern performances are regularly organized in the theater.
The foyer of the theater exhibits unique dolls and scenery. While waiting for the beginning of the performance, you can examine handmade dolls. Do not forget photos on the royal throne, which stands in front of the theater.

The Chamber Theater is located next to Matenadaran, in a quiet place. Still here are performed very noisy performances. This is one of the favorite places for young audience, where you can watch a modern comedy, a musical and a drama. The theater is very small and it provides the maximum contact between the viewer and the actors. The viewer becomes a part of the performance, and often becomes its participant. In the Chamber Theater, there are often standup performances.

The building of the National Opera House was built in 1940 by the project of the great architect Alexander Tamanyan. The building of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater is one of the most important sights of Yerevan. The theater plays a unique role in the cultural life of the city and the whole country. The State Russian Drama Theater was founded in 1937 and on the very first day of its foundation he played a major role in the theatrical life of the city.
